Soft
Touch Ministry volunteers officially opened and dedicated
The Dorcas House at the campus of Saturn Road Church of Christ
on February 11, 2006. STM volunteers sew pillows, chemo caps,
lap blankets, and stuffed animals to give to hospital patients.
Some fifty volunteers under the leadership of Linda Owen at
Saturn Road are making these items with great love and care.
Patients who receive these soft and warm items from the hands
of smiling volunteers are reminded of Gods gentle love
and abiding presence. With their work, the ministry and legacy
of Marie Banister, Lifelines founding volunteer has
now expanded to Dallas.
Compassionate
Touch, Lifelines financial assistance program, is
a part of Lifeline Dallas as well. The Compassionate Touch
program assists patients and their loved ones with such things
as housing, meals, transportation, parking, and other non-medical
financial needs. Assistance is open to anyone, has no strings
attached, and is based solely on financial need. Requests
for assistance and screening of applicants will be handled
by hospital social workers.
Lifeline
Chaplaincy volunteers are busy people in new places and
are able to affirm many patients faith in the Risen
One, restore hope, and be a calming presence in crisis situations.
