Lifeline Chaplaincy offers to train volunteers to become pastoral care givers.

Seminar Training for Pastoral Care Volunteers
By Paul Riddle, Chaplain

In keeping with our mission of “being an educational resource for crisis ministry,” Lifeline Chaplaincy offers two types of continuing education for pastoral caregiver.

THE FIRST avenue of continuing education is the "Creating a Healing Community" workshop, an 18-hour, intensive weekend course. Its objective is to equip pastoral care volunteers and other interested persons with basic listening and interpersonal relationship skills necessary for effective pastoral visitation.

The workshop is required for new Lifeline pastoral care volunteers and is also recommended for ministers, elders, visitation ministry leaders and others involved in caregiving in congregations.

THE SECOND avenue of continuing education is a series of three-hour seminars designed to deepen and broaden the pastoral care skills of Lifeline volunteers and to provide opportunities for encouragement, creative exchange, and mutual support. Another objective of the seminars is to provide training opportunities for ministers, elders, church care ministry leaders, and caregivers in the Texas Medical Center community, Dallas hospitals and the community at large.

"Every aspect of this training has been enjoyable and I see the benefit of what I have learned and how it can be used every day in my life."-Alta Mesa, Ft. Worth-April 1-3, 2011

We offer continuing education workshops "Creating a Healing Community" and frequent seminars.
