The second avenue of continuing education is a series of three-hour SEMINARS designed to deepen and broaden the pastoral care skills of Lifeline volunteers and to provide opportunities for encouragement, creative exchange, and mutual support. For Pastoral Care Volunteers
By Paul Riddle, Chaplain

In keeping with our mission of “being an educational resource for crisis ministry,” Lifeline Chaplaincy offers two types of continuing education for pastoral caregivers.

The first avenue of continuing education is the "Creating a Healing Community" workshop, an 18-hour, intensive weekend course. Its objective is to equip pastoral care volunteers and other interested persons with basic listening and interpersonal relationship skills necessary for effective pastoral visitation.

The workshop is required for new Lifeline pastoral care volunteers and is also recommended for ministers, elders, visitation ministry leaders and others involved in caregiving in congregations.
